MTU Detroit Diesel Australia will showcase the latest submarine engine technology from its international affiliate, MTU Friedrichshafen, at the Australasian maritime Expo, Pacific 2013, held at Sydney’s Convention and Exhibition Centre from Monday 7 – Wednesday 9 October 2013.
Our submarine offering at the Expo will encompass the MTU Series 4000 U73 and U83 engines, which deliver 1,115 and 1,300 kW of power respectively, Roger Gleeson, National Manager Defence Programmes Group at MTU Detroit Diesel Australia, said.
These engines offer a solid foundation to ensure the success of our key maritime and naval defence customers - today and in the future – and are highly-regarded for their uncompromising reliability, impressive power-to-weight ratios, and fuel economy, for low lifecycle costs.
The MTU Series 4000 M93 and CODAG + EM14 Callosum, integrated ship automation system ship system, will round out MTU Detroit Diesel Australia’s product offering at the Expo.
All this will be bolstered by Arndt Von Drathen’s discussion on Charge Air Systems for Submarine Engines at the Pacific 2013 International Maritime Conference. Reviewing available charge air system designs for engines operated under submarine environment conditions, Mr Von Drathen, Senior Manager at MTU’s Governmental Naval Application Centre, will present at Session 7 of the Conference on Monday 7 October, from 17.30 to 18.00.
“The focus of the stand highlights the ability of MTU’s engines to meet various consumer demands in today’s evolving maritime marketplace. MTU’s engines offer clean, powerful and cost-effective solutions, and are, in effect, the perfect match for domestic and international maritime customers,” added Mr Gleeson.
